WELCOME to the Pink Hibiscus Cottage! This is a wonderful vacation home in Russell Island (Russell Island is connected to Spanish Wells by a tiny bridge). This is a non-crowded residential area still sparsly populated, with some farmland and newer homes here and there. You are in a peaceful area, yet a very short golf cart ride to nearby restaurants and grocery stores in Spanish Wells. How breathtaking to wake up every morning to this gorgeous turquoise seaview in front of you? You can sit on the porch and watch an occasional sailboat or cruiseship go by, or better yet, get in the water yourself and snorkel, or take the kayak out for a nice ride. Listen to the wonderful sounds of the birds. Russell Island is home to some beautiful fruit trees. You can have a lot of fun touring the island area in your rented golf cart (the main mode of transporation for tourists). Enjoy water sports, fishing, a day trip to Harbour Island, and most of all just relax.You also have to try some of the delicious local seafood. Spanish Wells is the lobster capital of the Bahamas! The Pink Hibiscus Cottage is an ideal vacation home for romantic couple getaways, fishing trips, or for small families. (Our home capacity is four people). If you have a larger group, we also rent out the Blue Crab Cottage home behind the Pink Hibiscus (this home accommodates four guests also). Russell Island, is located just over the tiny bridge that connects to Spanish Wells. Spanish Wells/Russell Island is at the northern tip of Eleuthera, Bahamas. Russell Island is about a 4 x 2 mile wide island (less developed area with new construction) connected to the main town of Spanish Wells, which is about a 1 x 3 miles wide island. The entire area inhabits around 1800 people. Here's a map link.

To arrive to the Pink Hibiscus Cottage, fly into North Eleuthera Airport (ELH). We are only an hour's flight from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale (Continental Airlines flies direct; TwinAir; LynxAir); or about 1/2 hr flight from Nassau (Bahamasair).

From the North Eleuthera Airport, you can take a ground taxi to Gene's Bay in North Eleuthera and catch the 5 minute ferry over to Spanish Wells. There is a local service from Spanish Wells which provides combined ground taxi & ferry service round trip which can be arranged ahead of time. Or, you may take the government ferry which runs on the hour. Once you arrive to the Spanish Wells dock, you may meet our Caretaker who will assist you with luggage, and this is where you may retrieve your rented golf cart. A golf cart is highly recommended to get around the island area (2 & 4-seaters are standard and run approximately $250 week on up). From the Spanish Wells dock, you may follow the Caretaker for the approximate 2 mile drive to the Pink Hibiscus Cottage. Upon arrival, you will be enamoured by the beautiful turquoise ocean in front of you.

Plenty of R&R; Travel around in your golf cart and see the lovely pastel painted homes in Spanish Wells. The architecture and tropical decorating of these homes are fascinating. The people here are very friendly, and often wave to tourists. Spanish Wells has a lovely beach; however you can just snorkel outside the front of the home from the Pink Hibiscus, or even swim on over to the Spanish Wells Beach if you'd like (you can walk over when the tide is low).

Our rental also comes with the use of a two-person kayak for your enjoyment. Boat Rentals are available on the island, and fishing trips can be arranged. All kinds of water sports: swimming, snorkeling and diving.

Breath in the fresh ocean air, and enjoy the tropical fruit trees in Russell Island and bird life. In Russell Island, you may pass a goat or two on your way to the town of Spanish Wells for a bite to eat. Spanish Wells has about four restaurants and a takeaway stand. You've got to try the conch salad or conch chowder here. There is also a seafood store, and three local grocery stores.

Spanish Wells/Russell Island is a lovely quaint area, totally for fun and relaxation. The turquoise ocean water here is absolutely gorgeous. You can also take a day trip to nearby Harbour Island for a day of touring and beaching at Pink Sands Beach, as the Bohengy arrives daily (picks you up in the morning and brings you back in the afternoon). You may also may rent a car and tour mainland Eleuthera for the day. Great place for a memorable vacation!
